Pinterest Predicts Trend Drops is a concept tied to Pinterest Predicts, the platform’s annual trend forecast that highlights emerging trends before they go mainstream. Trend Drops takes this a step further by offering free, limited-edition products inspired by the predicted trends, allowing users to physically experience these trends before they take off.
Identified user pain points and optimized the flow through wireframes and prototypes for landing and trend pages.
Collaborated with Pinterest and internal teams to align designs with branding and project goals.
Iterated designs based on feedback to enhance clarity, engagement, and consistency.

Requirements
Pinterest Predicts is a unique experience aimed at engaging users with trend drops inspired by future predictions. The client provided a set of requirements to ensure a seamless user journey, from discovering trends to redeeming limited-edition items.
The Landing Page should feature a grid of trends with clear status indicators (Available, Countdown, Redeemed) to help users understand which trends they can engage with in real time.
Clear Trend Status Communication
Each trend should have a dedicated Trend Page, allowing users to take relevant actions (e.g., redeeming an item, checking availability, or setting a reminder for upcoming drops).
Action-Oriented Trend Pages
Users should be able to effortlessly explore additional trend drops without disrupting their experience, ensuring a smooth transition between trend discovery and interaction.
Seamless Navigation
Journey Map & Insights
The User Journey Map revealed several critical pain points across key stages, such as confusion during 'Countdown' trends, a lack of follow-up options post-redemption, and unclear trend statuses. These insights led me to propose actionable solutions to enhance the user experience:
Introduce distinct status indicators—"Available," "Countdown," and "Redeemed"—with visually engaging designs and animations to guide user actions intuitively.
Enhancing Trend Status Visibility
Simplify the user flow for trend redemption and integrate calendar reminders for countdown trends, ensuring users remain engaged and don’t miss key dates.
Streamlining Redemption and Reminders
Add dynamic CTAs on all pages to guide users toward exploring additional trends or visiting the redeemable trend item pages.
Encouraging Exploration
User Flow
To achieve these objectives, I started by mapping the end-to-end user flow to align each stage with the client’s requirements and user expectations. This flow outlined the entire journey—from discovering Promoted Pins to post-interaction exploration—and served as the foundation for designing the user interface and interactions.
Wireframing
The wireframing process was the foundation for structuring the user interface and interactions of Pinterest Predicts. Starting with low-fidelity wireframes, I focused on defining the layout and functionality of key pages, including the Landing Page, Trend Sub-Pages (Available, Countdown, Redeemed), and Confirmation Messages. Each wireframe was designed to address the client’s requirements, such as providing clear trend statuses and intuitive calls to action, while ensuring a seamless user journey across all touchpoints.
Design Iterations
Throughout the design process, I made several key iterations to enhance usability and address insights gathered through internal testing, client feedback, and technical constraints. Below are the highlights of these iterations:
Landing Page Categorization
Before: The client initially requested the Landing Page to display trends categorized into three distinct sections: 'Live' (Available), 'Countdown' (Soon-to-be-available), and 'Redeemed' (Unavailable).
After: Given both platform limitations and front-end development time constraints, I proposed a solution to display all trend cards in a single, scrollable list, sorted by status. To improve navigation and user control, I added filter chips at the top, allowing users to toggle between categories efficiently.
Redeemed Trend Page Iteration
Before: On the Redeemed Trend Page, users are left with no clear next steps after learning that the trend is no longer available. This may create a drop-off point in user engagement.
After: To address this, I added a “View Other Trends You May Be Interested In” section below the redeemed message. This section dynamically displays Live and Countdown trends, encouraging users to explore trends that are still available or upcoming.
Enhancing Post-Submission Engagement
Before: The previous design replaced the redemption form with a simple thank-you message, which lacked the visual impact to highlight user participation or encourage event sharing, a key client requirement.
After: To address these issues, I designed a popup modal with a bold success message, a preview of the redeemed trend, and social sharing buttons. The modal also includes options to explore other trends or close, enhancing visual impact and encouraging users to share the event while maintaining a seamless flow.
Final Design
The final design integrates all iterations and improvements to deliver a seamless and engaging user experience for Pinterest Predicts. Below are the high-fidelity mockups showcasing the key features and how they address both user needs and client goals.
Promoted Pin: Capturing Attention, Driving Action
For Pinterest Predicts 2025, I designed a bold Promoted Pin featuring Pinterest's red call-to-action button and cascading trend images. This dynamic design aligns with the 'Trend Drops' theme, creating motion and urgency to capture attention and drive engagement.
Landing Page: Intuitive Navigation by Trend State
The redesigned Landing Page for Pinterest Predicts 2025 prioritizes clarity and engagement. With a seamless layout, trends are dynamically organized by status (Live, Countdown, Redeemed), ensuring users can easily discover and act on available drops. Filter chips at the top enhance navigation, creating an intuitive and visually compelling experience.
Available Page: Streamlined Redemption and Engagement
The Available Page is designed to guide users effortlessly through the redemption process while maximizing engagement opportunities.
High-quality images and concise descriptions with real-time availability (e.g., "50 items left").
Trend Details
Simple and intuitive form fields for users to input their name, email, and shipping address.
Redemption Form
After submission, the Available Page displays a dynamic popup with a bold success message, social sharing options—a key client request—and strategically placed CTAs like 'Explore Other Trends', guiding users toward further engagement without interrupting their flow.

Countdown Page: Anticipation for Upcoming Trends
The Countdown Page is designed to build excitement for trends that are not yet available while keeping users informed and engaged. Key features include:
A timer that updates in real-time, showing the remaining time until the trend is available.
Real-Time Countdown Timer
A one-click option to add the trend’s release date to users’ preferred calendar platforms, ensuring they don’t miss the drop.

Redeemed Page: Encouraging Continued Engagement
To prevent drop-offs when users encounter a redeemed trend, the page features a dynamic recommendations section titled 'View Other Trends You May Be Interested In.' This section displays Live and Countdown trends, ensuring users can seamlessly transition to exploring available or upcoming opportunities, keeping them engaged with the platform.
